© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Radovan, Zev, 05.1994

The picture depicts a large grey whale in profile that fills most of the pictorial space wich otherwise consists of blue water. There are bubbles in the water that surrounds the whale's smiling face and sun shining from the upper left corner. The whale's tail is twisted and inside his belly is a space created using a right angle on the right and a loosely painted separating barrier on the left. Within this space is a man seated on a folding chair reading a book. The blond, long haired, and bearded man is a self portrait of the artist. His body is drawn freely with black contours and white dry stains while his head is painted on a different piece of detailed and colorful stretched canvas similar to the man's hands that hold the book.
