A shtetl is depicted set amongst rolling hills. A small crooked house with a steep straw roof stands in the left foreground. A horse, hitched to a two-wheeled cart stands by the house and a person appears to be sitting in the cart. A cow on the right trudges past a wooden fence along a curving path which leads from the yard of the house out towards a green hill on the right. Village houses can be seen in the background standing on the slope of the hill. The composition contains a strong iternal movement, and a seeling of istability. The main colours are blue, ocrish green and greys. Reds, browns and whites can also be seen.
