Fol. 154v:

Full-page panel, serving as a frontispiece for the SeMaK encloses in its centre the initial word “to know” (לידע) opens the first chapter of the SeMaK.  The panel was executed in the first stage of decoration. The initial word is written in burnished gold display letters outlined in red set within a checkered blue panel with red dots which is framed by alternatingbordeaux and yellow bands.

The full-page panel is framed by Gothic architecture of a large gable flanked by two domed towers surmounted by two squirrels. A tiled roof of green and red is seen behind the arch. The arch is decorated with crockets along the ribs, a rosette window and a yellow trefoil arch at its center. The yellow arch is duplicated by an inner grey arch on red ground; both decorated with rosettes windows and fleur-de-lis finials at the centre.

The lower part of the panel is filled with heraldic white animals set within lozenges such as: a crowned mermaid holding two dolphins, a crowned lion, a deer, and with yellow eagles within medallions, all set on alternating red, bordeauxand blue grounds.
