Marking the beginning of Psalm 23, the bust of a black-faced man wearing a hat is incorporated within a foliate stem set vertically in the inner margin. He is surmounted by a bird. The man pours from a golden jug which possibly refers to verse 5 which reads, דשנת בשמן ראשי, "Thou annointest my head with oil." Between the first and second text columns, marking the beginning of Psalm 24, is a similar vertical stem. The stem incorporates a bird, a man in a long hooded hat, and an amphora. A third vertical stem incorporating a bird, a fish and a Star of David is set between the second and third text columns. Micrographic massoretic texts incorporating concentric circles at the center of straight lines, are written in the upper and lower margins. In the outer margin the micrographic massorah forms an eight-branched menorah with an overturned six-branched menorah as its base. Concentric circles at the center of the menorah's shaft enclose the Hebrew number for Psalm 25.
