Jewish Architecture Kloyz at 7 Petro Avižonio St. in New Žagarė, Lithuania
The former kloyz is a small building of plastered brick masonry, covered with a hipped roof of asbestos sheets. The plan is close to a square, with thick (ca. 90 cm) outer walls. The ground plan and the façades have been radically changed. In the western façade facing Avižonio Street, two wide rectangular gateways were cut out. Authentic brick masonry has occasionally survived, and in the interior, the ceiling coves and deep niches, into which windows are set, have been preserved. In 2007 the building housed a fire station.
