Sacred and Ritual Mappah (Torah wrapper)
The rectangular mappah consists of a main cloth and a lining.
The violet main cloth is made of two equal horizontal pieces. A central flower from which spread out branches bearing leaves and topped by flowers decorates the middle of the cloth. Branches bearing leaves and spikes decorate its four corners, facing the center. Between the two lower corner decorations there is an inscription which reads:
“Rachel Philosoph”
It is all framed by an entwined branch bearing also leaves and spikes.
The mappah is edged with a knitted band.
