Sacred and Ritual Objects Torah pointer, Turkey, 1965
The brass Torah pointer consists of a bar, a pointer and a hanger. The bar is divided into an upper and lower part. The twisted upper part terminates with a loop hanger through which a chain with an alternatly group of three links and a long ring is inserted. The rectangular flat lower part terminates with a pointer in a shape of a clenched hand with a straight index finger. The lower part bears a dedicatory inscription on one side in square linear letters,which reads from the upper part towards the pointer:
"אקדש לקק )לקהילה קדושה( מושב זקנים איזמיר יב"ץ )יראו בנחמת ציון( ממני קארין סארדינאס להצלחה אברהם##סארדינאס בן בת שבה הי"ו )השם ישמרה ויצילה( שנת 5275"
"Dedicated to the Holy Community Moshav Zkenim Izmir........................from me Karin Sardinas for success Abraham##Sardinas son of Bat Sheva may the Lord protect her and save her, the year (5)725 [1965]"
