Sacred and Ritual Objects Reader's desk cover, 1906
The purple parokhet is made of velvet. The parokhet is rectangular, and composed of three pieces. A dedicatory inscription appears on the lower part of the parokhet. The center of parokhet is depicted by two rampant loins~ rising over branches and supporting Tables of the Covenant in a rays-like frame. An inscription appears above the Torah crown:
זה השלחן אשר לפני ה'
"This is the table in front of the Lord"
The background is decorated with a star motif. The parokhet is framed by a foliate runner. Ribbons are attached to the borders of parokhet. The dedicatory inscription is embroidered in outline letters and reads:
לזכרון נשמות אבותיה / ר' מאיר בלוי ואשתו / מ' פיגלה וואהרמאנן ז"ל / ת'ר'ס'ו'
Translation: In memory of the souls of her fathers / R. Meir Bloy and his wife / Mrs. Fiegalah Waharmanen, of blessed memory / (5)666=(1906)
