Sacred and Ritual Objects Torah pointer, Iran, 2nd half of 20 century
The silver Torah Pointer consists of a hanger, a bar and a pointer.
The bar is divided into an upper arm and a forearm.
The upper arm of the bar is flat and smooth. It is surmounted by a loop inserted through a ring. The lower arm is flat and wider. The two facets bear inscriptions wich reads from the pointer towards the upper arm
: !וזאת התורה אשר שם משה לפני בני ישראל! !
And this is the law wich Moses set before the children of Israel.! (Deut.4:44)
!תורה צוה לנו משה מורשה קהלת יעקב!
Moses commanded us a law, even the inheritance of the congretion of Jacob.!(Deut. 33:4)
The pointer is in a shape of an open flat hand and bears inscriptions on both sides:
