  Torah case dedicatory plaque, 1883

The silver rhomboid dedicatory plaque consists of a central panel and a smooth band frame. The central panel bears a dedicatory inscription in eleven horizontal raws in full square linear letters and reads from the top to the bottom: ! בינ!ו )בשם ה' נעשה ונצליח(/לעלוי נש!מ )נשמת(/גדול אדוננו צד!י )צדיק(/ תמים אהליאב בן/אחיסמך זיע!א )זכרו יגן עלינו אמן( נעשה/הפרוכת עם הכסף הזה/מאתי העבד יחזקאל עזרא/ראובן צלטון הי!ו )השם ישמרהו ויצילהו( מבירות/ יע!א )יגן עלינו אמן( בט!ו לח' )לחודש( אייר/ש )שנת( התרמג/לפ'ר'ג' )לפרט גדול(! !In the name of the lord, let us be and thrive/ for the exaltation of the soul of/our great righteous master/ innocence Ahaliav son of/Ahisemeh may his virtue protect us,amen done/ the parochet with this silver/ from me the slave Yehezkel Ezra/ Ruben Zelton may the Lord sustain him and grant him favour from beirut/ May He build His city, amen/at the year (5)4243 (10.5.1883)!
