"Northbrook Community Synagogue was founded in 2011 following the merger of three storied and successful synagogues in the north shore Chicago area. Formed from Adas Yehuda v’Shoshana (or AYSH) of Northbrook, Northbrook Congregation Ezra Habonim and Maine Township Jewish Congregation of Des Plaines." In the prayer hall, there is a collection of stained glass windows from five former synagogues. The stained-glass panels are encased in wooden cabinets and electrically wired to be lit from behind. The collection was made by Jerry Orbach, who sees the space of Northbrook Community Synagogue as "the only repository of synagogue stained glass in the world." The first set of stained-glass panels he bought originated from Kehillat Jeshurun, the Albany Park, Chicago, synagogue Orbach attended as a kid. In 2020, Orbach acquired panels from B’nai Israel in Saginaw, Michigan.
