The rectangular tomb stone bears a Hebrew inscription surmounted by a scroll-shaped plate. The inscription is written in square, filled letters arranged in eight lines that read:

 ב.ד.ה. (ברוך דיין האמת) / חלף הלך אל המנוחה ואל הנחלה האיש הטוב והישר/ לאל עליון הישיש הנכבד כהייד (כבוד הרב)/ דוד
יצחק הכהן נייע ננוחו עדן) נפטר לבית עולמו ביום 24 לחודש כסלו שנת 5698/ תנצבה (תהי נשמתו צרורה בצרור החיים)

Translation: Blessed be the True Judge (based on T.B. Berachot, 54a). (He) 'has passed and gone' (based on Song. 2:11) 'to the rest and to the inheritance (which the Lord giveth him)' (based on Deut. 12:9). The kind and honest person before the most high God (based on Gen. 14:18:19), the old honourable person, Rabbi David Isaac Ha-Cohen, May he rest in Eden. Passed away on the 24th day of the month Kislev, the year 5698 (27.11.1937). May his soul be bound up in the bond of life

Summary and Remarks

It is not clear whether the tombstone was a stele or was placed horizontally on the grave.
