Schatz, Louise (artist)
{"5989":"Louise Schatz (1916\u20131997) was born in Vancouver, Canada. She earned a Master\u2019s in Fine Arts at the University of California. During WWII, she worked as a sketch artist for shipbuilders in San Francisco Bay, where she met her future husband, Bezalel Schatz. Louise and Bezalel moved to Israel, where they became part of the founding group of the Ein Hod artists village. Together with Zahara Schatz, they established \u201cYad,\u201d an arts and crafts workshop that produced innovative art objects distinct from the Bezalel School\u2019s style. Watercolor was her primary medium, but she also worked in collage, book illustration, and applied arts. Among her notable works are murals (with Bezalel) for Zim\u2019s Shalom and Theodore Herzl ships, El Al\u2019s London office, Jerusalem\u2019s tenth-anniversary exhibition, and ceramic walls for Midrehset Amalia and Beit Ha\u2019am Library."}
