Who is Commemorated:
The Jews of Briceni, Bessarabia, Romania (today Briceni, Moldova), who perished in the Holocaust.

Description:
The monument is located in the Northeastern Alley of the cemetery, along with dozens of other Holocaust memorials built by Landsmannschaft organizations, survivors, and relatives. The monument is a large memorial structure set against a stone-clad wall. At its center stand two rounded vertical tablets resembling the Tablets of the Law, each topped with a Star of David. In front of the tablets is a slanted stone base. The memorial is enclosed by a low black metal fence. Additional upright stone slabs flank the structure,  bearing a menorah symbol on top. The monument bears Hebrew inscriptions honoring the community's memory. The community name is emphasized through the use of a larger font size.

On top of the tablets, in Hebrew: 

יזכור

[רשימת קורבנות]

Translation: Remember/ [list of victims].  

 

On the central base, in Hebrew:

מצבת זכרון לקדושי
קהילת בריצ'אן והסביבה
שנספו עק"הש בשואה הי״ד
1940–1944

Translation: Memorial monument to the martyrs of /The community of Briceni /
And its surroundings /Who perished as a result of the Holocaust /May God avenge their blood /
1940–1944.

Additional inscription (front lower band), in Hebrew:

ולזכר
בני עירנו והסביבה
ששמם לא הונצח
מכל מיני סיבות

Translation:And in memory of /The sons of our town and its surroundings /
Whose names were not commemorated /For various reasons.

Left side slab inscription, in Hebrew:

ולזכרם
של בני עירנו והסביבה
שנפטרו אחרי השואה
תנצב״ה

Translation: And in memory of /The sons of our town and its surroundings /Who passed away after the Holocaust /
May their souls be bound in the bond of life.

right side slab inscription, in Hebrew:

ולזכרם
של בני עירנו והסביבה
שנפטרו  לפני השואה
תנצב״ה

TranslationAnd in memory of /The sons of our town and its surroundings /Who passed away before the Holocaust /
May their souls be bound in the bond of life.

On top of the base, in Hebrew: 

והעלתי אתכם מקברותיכם

עמי

והבאתי אתכם אל-אדמת

ישראל

(יחזקאל ל"ז י"ב)

 

Translation: And I will bring you up from your graves /My people /And bring you into the land of /Israel /[Ezekiel 37:12].

The side stones with Menorot are almost identical to stones flanking the memorial to Sokyriany (Secureni) victims in the Northern Alley of the cemetery.
