The Jews of Alytus (Alita), Lithuania, and the Jews of Serhei, Lithuania, who were murdered in the Holocaust.
Description:
The monument is located in the Southeastern Alley of the cemetery, among dozens of other Holocaust memorials erected by Landsmannschaft organizations, survivors, and relatives.
It consists of a wide dark stone monument connected to a light stone structure. On each side stands a small stone slab bearing an engraved image of a candleholder with a lit candle. A broad lower light stone slab is placed beneath, and the entire structure rests on a light stone base with a small stone compartment.The monument bears Hebrew inscriptions honoring the memory of the community. The community name is emphasized through the use of a larger font size. One of the inscriptions indicates that the monument contains the ashes of the Jews, who perished in the Holocaust.
