Sacred and Ritual Objects Torah finials (Tetuan, Morocco, 1925)
The brass tower like rimon consists of a shaft, a body and an apex.
The octagon shaft is supported by a raised round base. A petal pattern encircles the bottom of the shaft. The upper part of the base is decorated with a whorl. The shaft bears an inscription.
The body is hexagonal and it has the shape of two deminishing faceted tiers . The main section is mounted over a tiered bowled body base and is surmounted by a dome cap.
Each facet of the body is pierced and it is divided into two vertical bands. The two are pierced with an open round window. Each window is surrounded by leaves. A flower is attached between the two windows on each facet. Bells are hanging from some of the window. A ring, carrying a chain with a conical bell, is attached to the lower corners of the facets. The base of the body and the cap are decorated with an openworked foliate pattern. The pomegrannate-shaped apex is mounted over a whorl. The inscription is engraved on each alternating facet of the shaft and reads towards the body in outline letters:
