Description

The memorial is located near the castle in the city center. The memorial is a stone suitcase with a book set on it. The memorial is a part of the major Unterfranken memorialization project DenkOrt Deportationen, and the second identical suitcase is a part of the larger memorial built at the railway station in Würzburg that served as a transit center for deportees from Unterfranken region.   The plaque with historic signage shows the image of the suitcases at the railway station in Würzburg, among them the suitcase from Aub. 

Near the suitcase, there is a plaque with historic signage and the names of 15 deportees from Aub and 6 Jews, natives of Aub, who were deported from other localities.

DenkOrt Deportationen is a project launched in 2020 in Würzburg, a city that became a transit point for Jewish deportees in the region of Unterfranken, Germany. By 2024, there were 88 memorials built in the frames of this project.
