Sacred and Ritual Objects Shemirah le-Yeled ule-Yoledet, Beirut, circa 1925
The following description was prepared by William Gross:
The typical, but early, Jerusalem-type printed amulet. Even though it is marked Jerusalem, the slight differences in design and the use of Arabic place the printing elsewhere. Another, almost identical amulet, 027.011.259, carries not only the name but also the place, Beirut. This type of amulet repeatedly printed over the decades after the end of the 19th century was also printed in several of the cities of the Middle East as well. The models for the amulet are those printed in Jerusalem by Yitzhak Levi.
