Illuminated Manuscripts Tzahir shel Pesach, Morocco, circa 1875
The following description was prepared by William Gross:
The Dahir manuscript contains prayers for the seventh day of Passover and many are decorated in a distinctive manner resembling this manuscript. They almost all appear to be from the area of Tifilalet. This is a typical example of the Tafsir Haggadah manuscript used in morocco. These are special prayers in addition to the Haggadah used on Passover eve. These prayers are most often for the eighth day of Passover. Decorated in bright colors, the style is of the Tafilalet area in the south, similar in character to the Ketubah from that area, gross 035.011.018. While the manuscript is incomplete, the decorative effects are among the finest for this type of manuscript among the dozen or so present in the gross family collection.
