The following description was prepared by William Gross:
This pinkas belonged to a Holy Confraternity of the Synagogue of the sandle makers, probably somehwere in the Ukraine, at least as indicated by the decorations. The purpose of the society was to apparently keep the Ner Tamid lit in the synagogue and to do other good works for the community.
