Sacred and Ritual Objects Torah mantle from the Israelite Institute for the Deaf and Dumb (Budapest, Hungary, 1898)
The Torah^mantle is made of purple velvet.
The rectangular cloth cloak is made of two parts and is attached at the upper border, leaving two openings for Torah Scroll rods. It opens in its lower part on both sides. The cloth bears an embroidery decoration of a wreath encircling a dedicatory inscription. A Torah^Crown appears above the inscription and is flanked by an inscripton which reads: כ % ת "Crown of Torah (int.)"
The dedicatory inscription is embroidered in outline letters and reads:
זנ )זאת נידב(##מאקס שוללער ##עז )עם זוגתו( מרת##הערמיענע תי )תחיה(##בת כהרר )כבוד הרב רבי(##שמואל קורצווייל ז"ל
"This was donated (int.) by##Max Scholler ##with his wife (int.) Mrs.##Hermiene, may she live (int.)##daughter of the honourble Rabbi, R. (int.)##Samuel Kurzweil, of blessed memory"
