Hebrew Illuminated Manuscripts Siddur by Chaim ben Yosef Vital, Eastern Europe, circa 1750
The following description was prepared by William Gross:
This is a rare siddur by way of the kabbalah accordin to Haari, beautifully written and with a few diagrams and illustrations inside. Such Kabbalistic prayer books were generally written by the person who himself used it for prayers, although very few are signed. This book is for the Sabbath and Holidays They were generally used by Hassidim as that part of Judaism developed after 1750. This example has signs of extensive use. The first printing of such Kabbalistic prayer books was at the end of the 18th century. Such well written manuscripts of this type are very rare expecially from such an early date as this manuscript seems to be. Some pages at the beginning and at the end are missing.
