© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Levin, Vladimir, December 2023

Memorial Name:

No official name.

Who is Commemorated?

The Jews of Płock, Poland, who perished in the Holocaust.

Description:

The monument is located in the Western Alley of the cemetery, along with dozens of other Holocaust memorials built by Landsmannschaft organizations, survivors, and relatives.

The monument is designed to resemble a crematorium in a concentration camp (according to the Center Organization of Holocaust Survivors in Israel website). It has a tall, rectangular, stone pillar with a flames-like design at the top. The flames are composed of the letters of the word "Płock" in Hebrew. The pillar is built from large, square stone blocks stacked on top of each other. The base of the monument features a detailed relief depicting a procession of Jews being deported by Nazis who stand behind them with weapons.

On the front side of the base, there are inscriptions in Hebrew.

In the middle of the base, there is a relief of a door with a lock. There are three memorial candle holders on the door.

Next to the central door, there is a smaller niche closed with a door, that contains the ashes from Auschwitz (?).
