Who is Commemorated?
The Jews of Mińsk Mazowiecki and Stanisławów, Poland, who perished in the Holocaust.
Description:
The monument is located in the Western Alley of the cemetery, along with dozens of other Holocaust memorials built by Landsmannschaft organizations, survivors, and relatives.
The monument is a stone obelisk on a large stone base with inscriptions in Hebrew and Polish. The base has a metal door in its center., a niche behind the door contains the scrolls with the names. There are two memorial candle holders at the front of the base.
The monument bears Hebrew and Polish inscriptions that honor the memory of the community. The community name is emphasized through the use of a larger font size. Inscriptions indicate that the monument contains the ashes of the Jewish victims and a scroll with their names.
On either side of the metal door in the base, there are two memorial plaques that were added at some later point after the construction. The plaques have dedicatory inscriptions in Hebrew and English in memory of the Jewish communities in Okuniew, Milosna, Rembertów, Poland.
