Sacred and Ritual Objects Kiddush cup, Turin, 1824-1872
The goblet is made of silver and consists of a base, a shaft , a body and a lid. The base is round and rised .It bears vertical bands alternatively decorated with cluster of grapes and with a round medallion surrounded by a wreath and topped by a ribbon. The bottom bears a circle of leaves. ##The shaft is cylindrical and undulating and it is decorated with two rows of leaves and with an horizontal row with a net pattern centered by a round medallion. The top of the shaft bears a dedicatory inscription. A concave body is mounted over the shaft. The bottom is decorated with a row of leaves. The centre of the body bears rectangular panels decorated with a central medallion flanked by a wreath and topped by a ribbon. Between those panels are narrow ones depicting a cluster of grapes with ivy leaves. The rim of the body is decorated with a tiny row of circles.##The goblet has a convex rim bearing the same pattern as like as the body and the base.The top and the rim of the lid bear a foliate row. An apex in the shape of a bunch of flowers is mounted over the lid. The dedicatory inscription is engraved in linear letters and reads: מתנת אגוד הקהלות באיטליה למ!נ)מנוחת נפש( מרת יונה לוצאטו עוזיליי ז!ל)זכרונה לברכה( ! Gift of the Union of the Jewish Communities of Italy for the repouse ofthe soul(int.) of Mrs Yonah Luzzatto Usigli , of blessed memory(int.)!
