Hebrew Illuminated Manuscripts
Kabbalah MSS Page, Yemen, circa 1850

© Gross Family Collection, Photographer: Unknown, -

The following description was prepared by William Gross:

There exost very large quantities of Yemenite manuscripts. As Hebrew printing was not available in Yemen until the late 19th century, books either had to be imported, which was difficutl and expensive, or were copied by hand. Many of these manuscripts deal with the subject of Kabbalah. This is a page from such a manuscript and shows a rough schematic diagram of the ten sefirot. It is a page from a copy of "Rechev Elohim", a rare Kabbalistic composition from Yemen.
