History/Provenance

About 300 Jews were killed in the Christian cemetery in Staryi Chartoryisk [Tsal Kaplun Foundation].

In 1968, the the Holocaust Survivors erected the monument with a Soviet star at the killing site. Supposedly, the appearance of the monument changed in the late 1980s. Since that it bears a Magen David and an inscription, mentioning the wthnicity of the Victims [Yad Vashem].

On December 24, 1991, the Executive Committee of the Staryi Chortoryisk Village Council included the killing site on the The List of Monuments of History of Local Significance by the decision no. 265-р [Perohanych].
