Mass killings took place near a brick factory in Turiisk. In July 1941, 10 Jews were murdered here. On August 23, 1942, 1,512 Jews from Turiisk and surroundings were executed at the same place. The monument was erected in 1993 and renovated in 2000 [Tsal Kaplun Foundation].

On June 22, 1999, the Executive Committee of the Turiisk Village Council included the killing site on the The List of Monuments of History of Local Significance by the decision no. 415-р [Perohanych].

On September 3, 2000, Sam Boimel and other Turiisk natives from Israel and the USA unveiled the renovated monument. Boimel also put in order the mass graves. Sergei Shvardovskyi, the head of the Lutsk Jewish community with schoolchildren look after the mass graves [Yad Vashem].
