© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Bril, Yaacov, 27.1.1993
The ovoid silver rimon consists of a shaft, a body and an apex. The shaft is cylindrical and tapering upwards and it bears a ring on bottom. The body consists of two identical hemispherical parts attached together horizontally by two flattened rings adornated with geometrical patterns from which are hung six chains supporting acorn like bells. One rimon bears two dedicatory inscriptions within cartouches framed by dotted rims. Both inscriptions start with the words "A Golden Bell and a Pomegranate"(Ex.28:34), written in square filled letters and continue as follows: "זה הרמון היקד")הקדישה(##מרים בת##דוד אשת##נינוח בבה"כ)בבית הכנסת(##של כריל##יע"א)יהי עימה אלוהים(" "פעמון##זהב##ורמון##ח"##לחודש##אדר שנת##תרנ"ה##לפ"ק" "This Rimon (pomegranate) was dedicated by Miriam daugter of David, the wife of Ninoach to the synagogue of Kareli, may the Lord be with her." "The 8th of Adar the year(5) 755 (= 1895)" The same Rimon bears four depictions of birds in different positions within cartouches framed by vegetal motifs. The second rimon has no inscriptions. Its decorations appear within six trapezoid frames each depicting a bird in a different position. The framing bands are decorated with dots. The apex of the second Rimon has a dotted circular base, while both of them stem out of an amphoric pattern and form a decorative lili opening upwards in a drop like shape.
