Sacred and Ritual Objects  Candelabrum

The candelabrum consists of a base, a shaft, branches and candle sockets. The round base is supported by four legs in the shape of a lions head with scrolls emerging from its mouth. The edges turn upward. The base is divided into four units. One of the units bears a dedicatory inscription that reads: "Ture Erinnerung/an die silberne hachzeit/und zum andenken an/meinen gutten mann/und seir aller liebinge/Elze & Felik(s)?". The undulating shaft bears compressed rings at different intervals and has three decorative units at bottom, center and top. The bottom unit is cicumfered by leaves bottom and acanthus leaves at top. The central unit resembles a vase with acanthus leaves emerging from a wreath of leaves and turning under at the edge. The top unit resembles the central one but is used as a cup socket. The four scroll like branches emerge from the unit above the central urn. The branches terminate in small putti holding a rod which is attached to the urn shaped cup sockets. The cup sockets resemble the two urns already described in the shaft.
