  Moses Montefiore Medallion

The medallion bears the portrait of Sir Moses Montefiore on one side surrounded by an inscription which reads: "Sir Moses Montefiore ? in his mercy and grace will lengthen his days and his years pleasantly". the innermost inscription reads: "Geborn 24 October 1784 (Born October 24 1784)". The flip side of the coin bears Sir Montefiores coat of arms in the center. The coat of arms is composed of a shield in the center bearing two oval medallions one with a tree in the center and the other with an unidentifiede design. A helmeted head surmounts the shield and has two wings emerging from the sides and a crown on top. The head is flanked by a flag on either side. The shield is flanked by a lion rampant on one side a deer on the other. The shield and animals stand upon a waving ribbon that has a pendulum hanging down from the center. The caot of arms is surrounded by an inscription which reads: "Sir Moses Montefiore Oberscherif von Kent & London". The top of the medallion bears a ring to hang a chain from.
