History/Provenance
"The memorial included the burial of the remains of 21 desecrated Torah scrolls and RIF soaps. The names of the 557 local victims of the community were engraved on marble slabs on the walls of the building." Bányai and Frojimovics pay attention to the plaque in the shape of the Tablets of the Law. The plaque indicates the commandments only by numbers, "but the sixth commandment ‘Thou shalt not kill’ is written out, in Hungarian." According to the researchers, the same motif, the emphasis on the sixth commandment, can be found on several other memorials in Hungary, for example, in Abaújszántó, Aszód, Encs, Mátészalka, Mezőcsát, Mezőkövesd, Mór, Sárbogárd, Solt, Szentes, Szentendre, Szikszó, and Tab. [Bányai and Frojimovics, 2026, p. 168]
