Jewish Funerary Art Jewish cemetery in Nyíregyháza, Hungary
According to ESJF European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative, the cemetery (its perimeter is 718 m) is surrounded by a 2.5 m high concrete fence, there are approximately 2,200 tombstones dated from 1893 to 2017.
The cemetery was established in 1843 and it is still in use. The northern part of the cemetery is orthodox, the southern is neolog. It was separated with a fence until 2010. The orthodox cemetery was founded in 1931. The house of the caretaker was built in 1865.
There is a grave of a Soviet Jewish soldier with an inscription in Russian.
There is a beit tahara, 2 ohels, as well as the house of the caretaker.
There is a Holocaust memorial. There is a commemorative plate from 2019 referring to the disputed idea that some of the Jewish corpses were used to make R.I.F Soaps.
