Hebrew Illuminated Manuscripts MOIJA Benedictions Sheet for Esther Scroll with Flowers, Rome, 1983
This is a benediction sheet accompanying the contemporary decorated Esther scroll that is not shown in the image. The rectangular membrane is framed and divided into four parts separated by flowers on elongated stems. Every part of text begins with an enlarged word ברוך ,ארור, or קוראי.
The scroll is mounted on a wooden roller with silver decoration.

The benedictions recited before and after the Megillah reading, fragments of the Shoshanat Yakov piyut, and the Korei Megillah piyut for Purim.
The text is written in Hebrew square Ashkenazi script with tagin in intense black ink on the flesh side of the bright parchment membrane.
The text contains seriously elongated letters and abbreviations.
According to the MOIJA the scroll was produced in Rome in 1843 and it is "Donation Vittorio e Emma Piazza Sed, Roma in onore della Maggiorita del figlio".
