The following description was prepared by William Gross:

It is quite unusual to find an amulet written on cloth. This is an amulet for the protection of an infant on a strip of rolled cloth. Such fabric amulets were generally made in Iran.

The amulet carries formulas for the protection of the baby against the evil eye, ghosts and spirits, Lilith, ailments and other hazards. The fabric carries symbols of the Kabalistic hand, Solomon's seal, the Magen David, a magic square with angel writing and images of Lilith. There is a triangle filled with text, a common form used in Iranian amulets.

Mentioned in the text is the custom of making an amulet from a piece of the cloth of the babies first garment, according to which custom this amulet was most likely fashioned.
