Sacred and Ritual Objects Kiddush for Shabbat and the Three Pilgrimages, printed fabric, Vienna (Wien), circa 1880
The following description was prepared by William Gross:
Kiddush for Shabbat and the Three Pilgrimages, printed fabric.
Shabbat clothes were printed in several places, mainly in Jerusalem. This is an example from Vienna, demonstrating the exceptionally high quality of printing available there. The printing of such textiles in Eretz Israel did not reach this level. The scene of Har ha-Bayit at the bottom center is a copy of the same scene in a printed panorama of the Holy Land, Gross Family Collection ***.
Printed prayers: for Succot, Kiddush for Shabbat, Kiddush for the Three Pilgrimages, and Rosh Hashanah, with six illustrations: Moshe and Aharon, Menorah "LaMenatze'ach", Cave of Machpelah, Mount Zion, Jerusalem, and Rachel's Tomb.
