© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Radovan, Zev, 4.1994

The cylindrical laver is supported by three paw like feet. There is a depiction of a synagogue in the center. The synagogue is composed of a main building that has two stories. The first which is the facade of the building has five arched windows and the entrance door in the center this is topped by a gabled roof. The second story has two round windows and a gabled roof as well. On either side of the main building there is a narrow rectangular tower with three arched windows down the center surmounted by a round window and a domed roof with a Star of David on top. The central part of the building rises above all the others and is rectangular with a pyramidal roof and arched windows. The building is flanked on one side by trees and on the other by houses. There is a courtyard in front of the building with people walking in it. There is a river in the foreground with a boat on it and a gate above it with people leaning on it and walking on the boardwalk next to it. There is an inscription above the synagogue on either side that reads: "Synagogue a Dresde". There is an additional inscription on either side of the depiction that reads: "...for mine house shall be called a house of prayer for all people" (Is.56:7). The round plate has a ring around the center and another one around the edge. There is an inscription inbetween them that reads: "How goodly are thy tents O Jacob and thy tabernacles O Israel" (Num.24;5) "1843".
