The decoration of the operating synagogue in Nyíregyháza strikes with the iconographic motifs of Solomon’s Temple. These are borrowed from a theoretical reconstruction by Bernhard Stade (1887) and adopted to the overall Art Deco style. The synagogue’s interior was restored after 1945, its Neolog rite was abandoned, and its new bimah occupies the center of the prayer hall. The synagogue acquired new murals, including the signs of the zodiac, the Tribes of Israel, the four animals mentioned in Pirkei Avot, the Holy places, and others, all suitable to an Orthodox rather than Neolog congregation. The plaques commemorating the names Holocaust martyrs are installed in the synagogue.
