  Passover (Seder) plate, Israel, 1970-2000

The plate is round. Its central medallion depicts Moses and Aaron before Pharaoh sitting on his throne. Hebrew and English inscriptions "ישראל" (Israel) are engraved above the scene, and its title in Hebrew "משה ואהרן לפני פרעה" (Moses and Aaron before Pharaoh) - below. Six oval sections for Passover foods, marked with a name for each food, surround the central medallion: maror (bitter herbs), zeroa (a roasted lamb or goat bone), charoset (a sweet, brown, pebbly paste of fruits and nuts), chazeret (lettuce), karpas (vegetable herbs), beitzah (an egg). Clusters of grapes decorate the plate between the food sections.
