Modern Jewish Art
  Zaltsman, Colombina and Pierrot

© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Radovan, Zev, 09.1995
Figures of two men and two women are placed along the picture's plane. A slim young woman is shown standing in a three-quarter turn to the left with her arms crossed beneath the breast. She has a sharp face oval, long hair and looks askance and downwards. A man dressed in a long shirt stands in the center behind the woman. His left arm is stretched along the body while with his right one he touches his left shoulder. He has a sharp nose, an elongated chin, and wears a tall hat. (Its upper part is cut by the edge of the picture.) The man looks at the spectator though at the same time he seems to be addressing the woman before him. The second woman with a wide face oval, thick dark hair and naked shoulders (only the right shoulder is visible) stands frontally behind the man. She looks at the second man standing to the right. This man stands frontally though his bony face with tightly pressed lips is turned to the left, towards the first woman. The man's hands are stretched downwards and clutched. The man is dressed like Pierrot: in a white shirt with a wide loose collar and a beret. In the background one can see stone houses of primitive rude forms and wooden fences.
