  Zaltsman, Destruction

© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Radovan, Zev, 08.1995
The drawing represents a view of outskirts of some ruined and abandoned city and a deserted landscape in the distance. The left part of the drawing is overloaded with the ruines of several houses standing one behind and above another. In the left foreground stands a low house with arches and a partly preserved gabled roof. Above, in the left corner there are a low house with a porch, a closed door and one window, and another house with two high arches, tiled roof and a mansard with three windows. Ruines of a high building are situated closer to the center. Its destroyed walls hang over the landscape. Two windows and a staircase are seen intact in its upper left part. Three houses are placed diagonally in one row from lower right to the center. A house in the right corner has an arch in the lower part and two windows in a vertical piece of wall which left intact. The inner parts of the house are totally destroyed. Next house is low and safe. It has a door, a window and a sloping roof. The house in the central part of the drawing is two-storeyed, with a arch in the lower part, two windows on each floor and a mansard with two windows and gabled roof. In the center of the drawing there is a rocky area and an opening through which one can see the landscape.
