Modern Jewish Art
  Akselrod, Evening in the field

© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Radovan, Zev, 04.1994
The picture represents a landscape with figures of resting peasants. In the lower right part of the work there represented a metal stove with a cast iron pot on it. To its right there sits in profile a bearded man in a peaked cap. Three teen-agers are standing to the right of the stove looking rightwise. To the left of them, in the center of the composition two women in kerchiefs are sitting on the ground. A cow is standing sidewise behind them in the depth. A boy in a peaked cap is standing to the left of it in profile. He stretches out his hand towards the cow's muzzle. A bucket stands on the ground between them. The figures and the field on the foreground are painted mostly with hot colors. The background is painted with blueish and green colors of grass and sky.
