Modern Jewish Art
  Lion, Heavy path. Debts.

© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Tartakovsky, Sergey, 01.1992
The drawing represent a Jew, his wife and four children on the little donkey's back. The picture is made with sparse pen strokes, their checkwork a little more thick in the face of the man, half turned to his wife with one eye screwed up. At the edges of composition - a succession of "mere" strokes and two inscriptions: one on the top is made with Hebrew letters (without sense), another, in the left part, in Russian. The translation of the Russian text is as follows: "To Eudoxia for washing the floor - 1 ruble; for the refined sugar - 52 kopecks; electricity in the closet - 13 kopecks; socks - 83 kopecks, debt to... 02 kopecks; debt to... - 102 rubles; cheese - 023 kopecks; sum total - 111 rubles 13 kopecks."
