Modern Jewish Art Copy of the frontispiece of the pinkas of Hevra Kadisha in Starokonstantinov
The picture represents a frontispiece of a Pinkas. At the center an arched gate is represented topped by a gable and flanked by columns bearing floral and geometric decoration. To the left and right half arched panels include floral and geometric decorations as well as Hebrew inscriptions. Two medallions bearing Hebrew words flank the main gate. The inscriptions read: זה/ השער ל"ט/ גומלי חסד/ ים יבואו בו )תהילים מס' ( ## זה/ הפנקס של/ החבורה הק/ דושה גומלי/ חסדים translation A models of a coffin and a stretcher (bier) are depicted in the central panel bearing Hebrew words: טהרה ## מטה translation At the bottom of the gate burrial tools are depicted.## A Russian inscription is written by hand: Zachinalniyi list pinkusa (Havura gmilut Hasidim - Hebrew) Starokonstantinov. "Frontispiece of the notebook (of the Gmilut Hasidim Society) Starokonstantinov."
