Sacred and Ritual Objects Torah crown for Jewish Gymnasium of Budapest
The silver crown consists of a base, arches a crest, and an apex.
The base is round and bears medallions in relief. They are decorated with filigree and green stone setting. Between the medallions is a dedicatory inscription. (cf. Sc.1989.131;4/4)
זה הכתר / נעשה בבצלאל / בירושלם תוב"בא / לכבוד / תורת ה' / התמימה / למען הגמנסיה / היהודית בבודפסט/
Translation: This crown / has been done in Bezalel / in Jerusalem, may it be built and established (int.)/ for the honour of the perfect / Torah / for the Jewish gymnasia in Budapest.
The arches are surmounted by a crest in the shape of a domical building with columns. It is decorated with a filigree pattern. Between the columns are holes for bells. One bell is attached to the crest. A globular apex is mounted over the crest.
