  Ryback, Russian Cart

© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Radovan, Zev, 02.1987
A Jewish man and woman are depicted driving through a wheat field in a horse-drawn cart. Their backs are to the viewer as they drive along a path leading from the lower left of the picture to the right. The man who wears a black coat and a brown peaked cap sits with his right leg outstretched on the side of the cart. The woman wears a red shawl and a brown kerchief. The wooden cart has massive back wheels and a large protruding axle. A blue sky with feathery white clouds is seen in the top right corner. An inscription on the back of the canvas reads: J. Ryback/ 32 rue de l'Arne/ Paris J. Ryback/ 34 rue du lotentin/ Paris XV.
