The tas is made of silver and consists of a plate, a crest, a back plate, and a chain. The plate is in the shape of a cartouche. It is decorated with two rampant lions~looking forwards. They support the five and five Tables^of^the^ Covenant~. Above them is a Star^of^David~ framed by four branches. The Tables^of^the^Covenant~ are engraved with the first ten letters of the Hebrew alphabet. The place for the calendar tablet is rectangular, and appears in the lower part of the plate. Below the place for the calendar tablet are two branches. The plate is framed on both sides by curtains which become a foliate pattern with cornucopias at the bottom, and "winged scrolls" at the top. The curtains bear a dedicatory inscription in engraved, outline letters. The inscription begins on the left side, where it reads from bottom to top: "נדבת הקצין כ"ה"ר )כבוד הרב( מיכאל זאב שווארץ" "The donation of the eminent honourable Rabbi(int.), Michael Zeev Schwartz"##The inscription continues on the right side of the plate, where it reads from top to bottom: "ואשתו החשובה מ' רחל שווארץ" "And his wife, the important Mrs. Rahel Schwartz" A crest in the shape of a crown, which is decorated with floral and geometrical patterns, is attached to the plate. The plate is hung by a chain which is inserted through four rings attached to the back of the plate. The back plate is in the shape of a hollow cartouche, and is attached to the outer section of the back of the plate.
