The silver rectangular case is composed of two parts connected by a hinges. The box is framed on two sides by a zigzag motif and on the remaining two sides with a meander design. The frame on the top part depicts two people in the center. One is a Jew with a kippah and the other is a gentile wearing a uniform. There is an inscription inbetween them in square filled letters which reads:

בינו/ שנות/ דר-ודר תרכ'ו 1890

The second half bears an inscription in Russian that reads:

И.О. Линецкому / писателю /ко дню /юбилей / XXV / летней / 11 Ноября / 1890 года / его литературной / деятельности / от меценатов г. Одессы

("For I.O. Linetsky the writer for the day of the 25th anniversary of his literary activities from patrons in Odessa (on the) 17th of November in the year of 1890".)
