  Ex libris of Hermann Süsskind

A copy of the exlibris held by the artist’s daughter, Miriam Morris, has an attached paper on the reverse side of the frame, typed in German by the artist. It says:

“Artist: David Friedman
7545 Lynn Ave.,
St. Louis, Mo, 63130

Diese Exlibris, oder Bücherzeichen radierte ich im auf Kupfer in Auftrage des Bankier Hermann Susskind [!] im Jahre 1920 in Berlin in einer Auflage von 1000 Blatt. Durch ein zufälliges Wiedersehen in Tel Aviv in Israel im Jahre 1950, erhiellt [!] ich das umseitige Blatt zur Erinnerung.”

Translation:

This Ex Libris or bookplate I etched on copper by order of the banker Hermann Süsskind in the year 1920 in Berlin with a print-run of 1,000. Through a chance meeting in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1950, I received this print as a memento
