Sacred and Ritual Objects Torah coronet , Turkey, 1868
The round coronet is divided into two parts: a base and an upper part.
The convexed base is decorated with an oval medallion and a round one alternatly, flanked by leaves. It is framed with an upper and lower bands decorated with diagonal grooves. The upper part is decorated with Sanctuary Implements and priestly garments; depicted the Menorah (13444), the Laver and its stand(13445), the Altar of Sacrifice with a shovel and tongs (13483), the Altar of Incence (13484), a Breastplate (13462), and the High Priest robe (13462).
Each motif is flanked by acanthus leaves. The edges are serrated and decorated with leaves and three medallions. Each medallion bears an inscription in square filled letters, and reads:
"נדבת הקהל הקדוש"
"A dedication of the holy congregation"
"בן פורת##יוסף"
"Ben Porat Yosef" (Gen. 49:22)
"בשנת ##כה תברכו את##לפ"ק"
"In the year "on this wise ye shall bless the... (Num. 6:23)" (5)628 (=1868)"
A bar with holes for the staves is attached across the lower part of the coronet.
